Robert Bake & Brunch enjoys a prime location in the northern part of Chiang Mai’s Old City. It’s a relative newcomer to the Chiang Mai restaurant scene, opening in early 2023, but has quickly become a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Named after its four-legged furry mascot, the venue offers a delightful blend of comfort food and stylish ambiance.

Renaissance Charm Meets Garden Serenity at Robert Bake & Brunch
Robert Bake & Brunch offers two distinct spaces. The interior features a classically styled, almost Renaissance, wood-panelled design with plush red velvet curtains and cushions, intricate glass chandeliers hanging from a designer wood-frame suspended ceiling, and faux rock features. Long wooden tables take centre stage, with smaller tables along the sides and a bench window seat at one end.

The striking interior is built within a white, two-storey, atrium-like structure. This unique design floods the wooden interior with natural light from the roof and upstairs windows, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite the cavernous space, the wooden elements make it feel cosy and welcoming, with an element of grandeur.
In contrast, the cafe’s outdoor area resembles a charming English country garden, complete with quaint picnic areas (and Robert the dog soft toys). The bordering pine trees also lend an Italian/Swiss Alps feel to the garden. The result is a delightful outdoor area where you can soak up the Chiang Mai sunshine, or sit in the shade on the spacious veranda.

A Touch of Art: Pebble Mosaics by Justin Bateman
Adorning the walls and complimenting the interior perfectly are Renaissance style artworks by Chiang Mai and Bali based artist Justin Bateman – an international artist from the UK. Bateman has gained recognition for his mosaic art from found stones, or “Pebble Picassos”, and has been featured by prominent outlets such as Forbes, the BBC and ITV.

European-Inspired Brunch Classics and Creative Twists
At Robert Bake & Brunch, the European-inspired menu features a wide variety of breakfast and brunch options. For a savoury start, there’s Spanish Garlic Prawns served with crusty bread. Lighter choices include a refreshing Mango Smoothie Bowl or house-made Greek Yogurt topped with granola and mixed fruit. Heartier options range from classics like Big Bacon & Eggs to grill selections such as Grilled Pork Chop and Striploin Steak with mixed vegetables. For a touch of indulgence, you’ll find Truffle Toast and Parma Ham & Lasagna, while the Kale Caesar Salad adds a lighter, fresher note to the menu.

The dessert menu features sweet indulgences like the Bee Hive Pancake, Tiramisu French Toast, and Strawberry Eton Mess Waffle. Or, for a more refined option, there’s the Poached Pear soaked in Red Wine.
Freshly Baked Delights and Speciality Beverages at Robert Bake & Brunch
As its name suggests, Robert Bake & Brunch boasts an in-house bakery featuring a delectable selection of breads, from classic bagels and sourdough to the unique Shio Pan salt bread. Peruse their bakery display and complement your meal with a freshly baked pastry or cake, crafted with high-quality ingredients.

Alongside a range of coffee beverages, the drinks menu includes specialty teas, unique sodas, and the exquisite rose tea with apple slices, served in a decadent glass teapot. For coffee aficionados, select beans are also available.
A Pawsitively Delightful Experience: Robert the Canine Namesake
Don’t be surprised to spot Robert, the cafe’s namesake, lounging around, adding a touch of playful charm to your dining experience. He often greets customers with a wagging tail and playful demeanour. And if he’s not there in person you’ll find likenesses of him around the garden.

His face also makes a notable appearance on the Robert menu specials – the Robert Hot Latte 3D and Robert Brownie with fresh cream. You’ll also find other playful canine-inspired treats, like the Corgi Butt Chocolate Bun!

Worth the Splurge
While Robert Bake & Brunch may be slightly higher priced than some other Chiang Mai cafe/restaurants, its unique design, meticulous attention to detail – such as the playful dog bone butter and miniature shovel cutlery – and the very welcoming, attentive & polite staff, help justify the cost.
