Wild Coffee & Bistro, also known as Wild Garden, is a truly hidden gem in Chiang Mai. Nestled in a lush forest setting at the foot of Doi Suthep mountain, it offers a magical escape with delightful views over a serene stream and a charming small waterfall.

Unveiling the Magic of Wild Coffee & Bistro
Stepping through Wild Garden’s weathered archway of reclaimed wooden logs, a stone path guides you through a lush garden adorned with stone urns and vibrant exotic foliage. Just ahead, steps lead to an Asian-style porch framing a grand, intricately carved wooden doorway.
Beyond lies an exotic courtyard that exudes a certain palatial charm. Antique wooden doors and carved frames, imbued with an Indian feel, create an air of mystery. It’s a feeling further enhanced by the presence of a small Hindu shrine featuring a Ganesh figure, perhaps offering a subtle hint at the owner’s heritage. Seating is thoughtfully spaced around a cosy, lobby-like pavilion. Inside, plush armchairs and a sofa are set beside a serene, zen-like pool teeming with fish. It’s a tranquil, inviting space—and just the beginning of the Wild Coffee & Bistro experience.

The Bistro’s Elegant Core
Off to one side is the new and stylishly decorated coffee bar, a new addition for 2024. Continue through to the back and the theme changes slightly. An automatic sliding glass door with a sensor button reveals the air-conditioned restaurant area—a long room featuring a striking black-and-white geometric tiled floor and a counter at one end. The space is furnished with an eclectic mix of wooden tables and chairs, and a dark leather banquette with button tufting on the far wall. The decor blends rustic charm with a touch of formality, complemented by sculptures and decorative items, including a standout centrepiece on the central round wooden table.

Wild Garden’s Lush Outdoor Haven
Beyond the restaurant, through the opposite sliding glass door, you step out into the heart of Wild Garden’s charm—the large outdoor terraced area, a tranquil, rustic and tropical space. This multi-level terrace, perched above a lush jungle ravine with a gentle stream and small waterfall below, is the ultimate highlight of any visit to Wild Coffee & Bistro.
Abundant hanging ferns and a majestic tree create a verdant canopy overhead, while strategically placed potted plants and stone planters further enhance the tropical ambience. Classical stone statues and busts, including cherubs and lions, lend an air of timeless elegance.

The top deck features comfortable, cushioned modern outdoor chairs and sofas. On the lower levels, there’s an eclectic range of garden furniture. Exploring these lower levels is like a little adventure with an air of mystery. But take care on the steps—especially on the steep spiral staircase!

The terrace has a weathered, natural feel to it. It’s a calming space, with sunlight filtering through the trees dappling the planked deck. With the gentle sounds of running water and jungle wildlife, it’s a truly serene setting—a great place to while away a morning or afternoon.
